Adelaide Thunderbirds and West Coast Fever duel in ANZ Championship
Round 7 of the ANZ Championship unfolds on Sunday with the Adelaide Thunderbirds hosting the West Coast Fever at the Netball SA Stadium.
The Thunderbirds are currently ranked second in the table with 10 points, just two behind the Melbourne Vixens. In the last round, they pummelled the Southern Steel 58-48.
Carla Borrego erupted for 40 goals while Erin Bell added 19.
"We will be prepared for different line-ups," Adelaide coach Jane Woodlands-Thompson told adelaidenow.com.
"In one way we know what they are going to do because they will change their side around."
"But we have been worrying about ourselves. We have got a clear direction where we want to go. Some of the plays we have asked of the players are advanced and we will be looking to nail them down.
We need to be more consistent. We are our harshest critics and we know we can make a lot of improvement on the past two weeks," Woodlands-Thompson added.
The Fever, meanwhile, are struggling in eighth spot with only four points. They are out to bounce back after losing to the Waikato/BOP Magic 49-65 in the last round.
Caitlin Bassett led the Fever with 34 points while Catherine Cox added 15.
"The big shooters are still out there and I have to try to cover them," Fever mainstay Susan Fuhrmann told the West Australian.
"If I can reduce Carla's number of shots this weekend it will be a personal victory. It is going to require a full team effort. We have trained hard all week and have taken steps forward because our past couple of losses have been hard to take. We have not been proud of our performances."
