The Punj Masters 2010 is the final of the 10 PSA Supers Series tournaments. It will be held in Dehli, from Dec 14-19, and boasts a prize pool of $192,500.
This year’s event was dealt a blow ahead of the opening round of matches, when world number one Ramy Ashour of Egypt, plus two of the quarter finalists from last week’s tournament in Saudi Arabia, Karim Darwish and Gregory Gaultier withdrew, all with hamstring injuries.
Nonetheless, it promises to be an exciting battle with Nick Matthew of England, world number four James Willstrop (England) and world number five Amr Shabana (Egypt) leading the field.
"We are all very disappointed, of course, that the Punj Lloyd PSA Masters has lost three of its top seeds in the past few days," said PSA Tour Executive Sheila Cooksley.
"It just shows how tough this game of ours is and, as with all sports, injuries come at the most unlikely times and it is devastating for the three of them. But despite losing these three players, we have no doubt that the event will still be a top drawer tournament because now there is such a tremendous depth of talent on the PSA Tour."
