England's Nick Matthew will bid for successive world titles today after overcoming the challenge of Egypt's Karim Darwish in Saturday night's semi final.
Matthew put Darwish to the sword with a fine display at the Luxor Theatre winning the match 11-9, 11-9, 11-1.
Hopes of an all-English final were dashed though when England's No. 2 James Willstrop fell to Frenchman Greg Gaultier in the other semi.
The Yorkshireman went down 11-6, 11-8, 11-4.
In the women's event Jenny Duncalf reached her first World Open final after defeating Samantha Teran 11-9, 11-4, 11-7.
Duncalf will face Malaysian star Nicol David, who is bidding for a sixth title in
seven years, in the final this afternoon.
