The Indonesia Open continues on Friday with quarter-final action.
India's Parupalli Kashyap grabbed the headlines at Darjum Indonesia Open in Jakarta on Thursday when he qualified for his first ever quarter-final at a Super Series Premier event at the expense of top seed Chen Long from China.
Kashyap, ranked 26th in the world, stunned Chen 21-17, 21-14 with 45 minutes of sublime badminton to secure his first win over the World No. 3.
His compatriot Saina Nehwal made the quarters of the women's singles by overcoming the determined challenge of Indonesian Aprilla Yuswandari. Saina triumphed 21-17, 14-21, 21-13 in the second round.
Kashyap faces Denmark's Hans-Kristian Vittinghus today, while Nehwal is up against Chinese ace Shixian WANG.
