Simon Whitlock can end Andy Hamilton's hopes of reaching the Premier League Darts semi finals with a win in Birmingham this evening.
Simon Whitlock has not mathematically sealed a place in the final four of the Premier League but it would take an incredible series of results to prevent the Wizard from qualifying for the semi finals and he can play for the last two weeks with something akin to freedom.
This evening his opponent is Andy Hamilton, who is in the opposite position to Whitlock. The Hammer has just nine points from his first 12 matches and is three points behind fourth place. It will take a minor miracle for Hamilton to reach the playoffs although he will not give up until his task is impossible.
The chances are that will happen this evening in Birmingham. Whitlock is 8/15 at bet365
to beat Hamilton and it is fairly likely that he will. Hamilton is 11/4 although just two wins in 12 matches makes it difficult to back the Hammer at that price.
The PDC World Championship finalist has, however, had more Premier League draws than any other player this season with five, three of which came in the last three weeks. He finished level with Whitlock in Dublin and 9/2 that they finish 7-7 in Birmingham tonight is a reasonable price.
