The 2012 A-League Grand Final takes place on Sunday, with Brisbane Roar warm favourites to become champions against Perth Glory
The Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane will be packed to the rafters on Sunday as Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory compete in the Grand Final to determine who will become the champions of Australia.
The two teams finished behind the Central Coast Mariners in the regular season, although the table toppers were firstly defeated by the Roar after an exciting 3-2 contest, before Perth edged the preliminary final on penalties.
Ange Postecoglou’s team are strong favourites to win, with Brisbane having won last season’s championship after an amazing 28-game run and home advantage could count for a great deal on Sunday.
Bet365 are live streaming the A-League Grand Final and this bookmaker offer odds of 1.61 that the Roar win in normal time, with Perth available to back at 5.50 and perhaps the tag of being the underdogs will suit Glory.
Ian Ferguson’s side were as low as 9th place at the halfway stage of the season, although a strong finish saw them into the Finals Series and a 3-0 victory over Melbourne Heart filled them with confidence coming into a semi against Wellington Phoenix where they won 3-2.
Shane Smeltz is the danger man for Perth after scoring a hat-trick against Heart before equalising against Central Coast and scoring the opening penalty for his team in the shoot-out.
Meanwhile, Besart Berisha is the A-League’s top scorer this season and the Albanian has a brilliant ratio of 19 goals in 25 appearances for Brizzy this season.
