Williams lost 10-9 to John Higgins in the 2010 final, after leading 9-5, and will be keen to make up for that disappointment when his first round match against Jogia gets underway at 19:00 (GMT).

The current World No. 2 is bidding for his third UK Championship title and is fancied to overcome this first obstacle without too much difficulty.

World no. 7 Judd Trump meanwhile, must overcome the challenge of Welshman Dominic Dale to set up a mouthwatering last 16 clash with Ronnie O'Sullivan earlier in the day (12:30).

Also at 12:30 is the Mark Allen v Adrian Gunnell first round clash. Whilst in the other evening session match Stephen Lee plays Ricky Walden.
