The second round of World Championship qualifying gets underway on Saturday with a host of players looking to kick-start their Crucible campaign.
Matches are played over two sessions and the long format allows players to settle into the game, with more margin for error.
The morning, afternoon and evening sessions play host to ten close-looking matches, with various well known faces in action.
Andrew Padgett won four qualifying matches last year to reach the main event for the first time and will be hoping for a repeat of that success.
He takes on Indian professional Aditya Mehta, a player coming good since joining the main tour back in 2008.
Young Chinese ace Yu Delu has taken a number of scalps this season and impressed with a run to the last 16 of this year's German Masters.
He is in action alongside fellow countryman Li Yang; the duo part of an abundance of top talent emerging from the Far East.
The standout match of the day sees veteran Ian McCulloch come up against Belgian wonderkid Luca Brecel for their opening session in the afternoon.
Former world number 16 McCulloch is vastly experienced in major events and will be looking to add to his tally of Crucible appearances with a good run this week.
Brecel is the youngest player competing in this year's qualifiers aged just 17 and has been tipped as a future world champion having already made a 147 in competition.
Sam Craigie, Liam Highfield and Daniel Wells are among a fleet of youngsters hoping to make an impact in this year's qualifiers as they set out for Crucible glory on Saturday.
Kurt Maflin is another overseas hopeful in action as is Northern Ireland's former Welsh Open finalist Joe Swail.
The action gets underway at 10am GMT, with selected matches being streamed live over the best of 19 frames from the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield.
