Defending champion Novak Djokovic will face a difficult task if he wants to retain his Australian Open title as he now faces British number one and close friend Andy Murray for a place in the final.

Djokovic reached the last four thanks to a victory over David Ferrer, while Murray got the better of Kei Nishikori.

The other semi-final will see two of the sports greats take to centre court as Roger Federer goes into battle against Rafael Nadal for a place in the final.

Federer booked his spot in the semi-finals thanks to a win over Juan Martin Del Potro, while Nadal defeated Tomas Berdych.

In the women's event number 11 seed Kim Clijsters of Belgium will go up against Victoria Azarenka, while Maria Sharapova and Petra Kvitova will fight it out in the second semi for a place in the final.
