Redemption is on the mind of both Japan and Russia when they take on each other in the FIVB World League in Santo Domingo tonight.
This after the two teams lost their first matches in Week 2.
Japan lost to Cuba 1-3. Japan’s Kunihiro Shimizu had a match-high 23 points while Tatsuya Fukuzawa added 15 in their 21-25 20-25 25-22 21-25 defeat.
Russia, meanwhile, bowed to Serbia 23-25 25-20 20-25 23-25. Maxim Mikhaylov topscored for the Russians with 22 points.
Russia coach Vladimir Alekno said "There are no secrets in the sport. It was not our best match, but we also have to give credit to our opponents."
Russia edged Japan 3-2 in Week 1.
