The United States is out to continue its winning run in the FIVB World Grand Prix in Brazil tonight as it takes on Germany.
The two teams met in Week 1 with the Americans posting a 3-1 victory in Santo Domingo.
Team USA kicked off its Week 2 campaign with a 3-0 sweep of Italy yesterday to notch its fourth win in a row. Destinee Hooker scored 15 points to lead the two-time defending champions to a 27-25 25-20 25-17 win in Pool E.
"Playing this week with such great teams is a very important opportunity for us. Italy made some changes on their strategy during the match and we were able to adjust ourselves to it. I hope we can improve in each match until Sunday," USA head coach Hugh McCutcheon said.
Germany, meanwhile, is eager to bounce back after losing to Brazil 25-18 14-25 18-25 24-26 yesterday. Maren Brinker scored 13 points to lead the Germans, who remained with six points with a 2-2 record.
"Brazil served really well, in a different speed, and it impressed me. I am proud of my team because it is not easy to play without our captain and the players handled very well this situation," Germany coach Giovanni Guidetti said.
