The 2014 Winter Olympics gets underway at the start of February and thanks to the BBC you will be able to watch a lot of the action streamed live online.

The 2014 Winter Olympics, which will the 22nd instalment, will take place in Sochi, Russia from Thursday, February 6 until Sunday, February 23rd.

This year’s games will see 98 events over 15 different winter based sports taking place with both the Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympics being organised by the Sochi Organising Committee.
Sochi won the rights to hold the 2014 Winter Olympics back in July 2007 when it came out on top in a battle against Salzburg in Austria and Pyeongchang in South Korea. The Sochi Olympics will be the first Olympics to be held in the Russian Federation since the breakup of the USSR.
What events will be in the 2014 Winter Olympics>:
The three skating sports disciplines are figure skating, speed skating, and short track speed skating. The six skiing sport disciplines are alpine, cross-country skiing, freestyle, Nordic combined, ski jumping and snowboarding.
The two bobsleigh sports disciplines are bobsleigh and skeleton, while the other four sports are biathlon, curling, hockey, and luge.

The events of the 2014 Winter Olympics will take place in two new venues - an Olympic Park was constructed in the Imeretin Valley on the coast of the Black Sea, with Fisht Olympic Stadium and the Games' indoor venues located within walking distance, and snow events will be held at Krasnaya Polyana.
will be showing a lot of the action live on their television programmes, but the British media company will also be allowing fans to watch the action streamed live by different means.

The event will be covered with six high-definition streams of live events, plus two television channels of coverage, according to an announcement from the BBC. The coverage will be available on tablets and mobile devices through the BBC Sport app.
BBC have managed to purchase all rights for the Olympics up until 2020 and they are hoping this streaming experiment will be a huge success after they previously streamed some of the London 2012 Summer Olympics.
