Gaultier gained a measure of revenge for his defeat in the World Open final at the hands of Matthew and now faces another Englishman in the semis, number three seed Willstrop.

Second seed Karim Darwish faces Azlan Iskandar in the other semi final following an efficient performance in his quarter final, in which he made light work of Stewart Boswell 11/5, 11/4, 11/6, in just 39 minutes.

In the women's event, following a number of shock exits on Thursday, Hong Kong's Annie Au continued that trend as she came from 2-1 down to beat third seed Rachael Grinham to the delight of a packed crowd at the Hong Kong Squash Centre.

Au faces the game of her life on Saturday as she plays Malaysian number one seed Nicol David for a place in the final.

Low Wee Wern faces Raneem El Weleily in the other semi after the latter defeated another local favourite Joey Chan.
